Our Churchyard
Part of the charm and beauty of our Christ Church grounds comes from the simple dignity of our churchyard. Even those of us who do not have loved ones buried here enjoy the tranquility and calm of rows of headstones, carefully tended, standing in witness that “to thy faithful people, O Lord, life is changed, not ended; and when our mortal body doth lie in death, there is prepared for us a dwelling place eternal in the heavens.”
Stroll our churchyard in December 2020 as we remember those who are no longer with us, but not forgotten.
If you tend the graves of loved ones buried here, please help us maintain the reverent and dignified atmosphere of the Churchyard for everyone by abiding by our Churchyard Guidelines (last updated in 2003). Please remember that artificial flowers and decorations are prohibited, and ornament and objects (other than gravestones and natural floral arrangements) should never be placed in the Churchyard. Please remove flowers and wreaths promptly when they fade.
The Feast of the Epiphany (6 January), by church tradition, is an appropriate time to remove all Christmas decorations.
Thank you for abiding by our long-established policies and helping to maintain the tranquil beauty of our grounds, for all to enjoy.
